2009 ....
The second half of 2009 started off with A BIG BANG, as Maitisong hosted Shanti Lo in Concert.
In additional Drakensberg Boys visited ...and this time ...one of our very own was in the choir.
... what a year it has been so far ....

In February this year we hosted workshops with Wissam Boustany
There was one day of intense masterclass/workshops for local musicians alongside the pianist Jeanette Micklem and Two concerts involving some local music students.
The funds raised from the tickets sold were used to purchase Instruments for the Music department .

We are delighted to report they have arrived .. To all who supported this event a BIG THANK YOU !
Lauren Turner , who visited us in 2009 let us know that she had written an article about the Gabs tour and it had been 'published' on the British Flute Society's website. She indicated that there is much interest in what we are doing here and what our collaboration achieved. Holding thumbs many people will read it and more work will come our way, fingers crossed!!

On the 11th August we were honoured to host the BUSKAID SOWETO STRING ENSEMBLE

On the 1st August - The Drakensberg Boys Choir visited us. Young Daniel Masita auditioned last year when they came to visit - and was one of the fortunate boys who is now attending this amazing school .

This incredible choir - Conducted by Mr Johann Van der Sandt - hosted workshops and performed for over 500 of our school children in the morning. They then went on to perform to a standing ovation in the evening.

and on Sunday 2nd August - The Maru-a-Pula Music department attended the performance by BIG LOU at the
No.1 Ladies Opera House - Pictured below is the headmaster Mr. Andrew Taylor receiving the accordian , which was generously donated by BIG LOU to the MAP Music department led by Ms Celine Mattee.
