    Contemporary Dance 
    Mophato have been working with LUYANDA SIBIYA of the Vuyani Dance Company in Johannesburg on this new dance, HAYANI. Also on the programme is KGOSI KGOLO, Mophato's acclaimed dance that deals with the relation between a chief and his people.

HAYANI is a Venda word meaning 'home'. The notion of home is extremely broad but a lot can be sai anbd explored araound it, especiall in defining the word 'home' in our African culture. Home is not oly based on the physical form but ion emotions and spirituality that are invested within.

A place of revival, recreation, recuperation, replenishment - the spirit of these things comes alivewhen a place called home truly finds its meaning. A place from which boundless love is drawn, the home becomes a distinct place set apart from the rest - where the heart is. Subconsciously, our very being is constituted by the energies drawn from home. Ultimately, it even determines our perspective and world-view. If these qualities are absent, then only a fearful dread remains.
