Maikano Serenaders

The Maikano Seneraders  was founded in 2006, pooling its initial membership base from graduates of the Maikano CJSS Choir. The name “Serenaders” is derived from “serenade”, a song sang by a man to his wife. The choir is privileged to have as its Director, Mr Lekgotla Dingalo, a seasoned and accomplished music talent.

The Maikano Serenaders has rapidly established itself through its initial performances at major national events, including at the occasions of the launch of Local Enterprise Authority (LEA), CEDA’s Young Farmers Fund Launch and Maitisong’s 20th Anniversary.  The choir was officially launched by  Stoan of Bongo Maffin at Maitisong on the 2nd June 2007 where it rendered  musical excerpts from the legendary George Frederic Handel’s oratorio “The Messiah”.  The choir sang, alongside other allies, at the retirement concert in honour of H.E. Festus Mogae at Maitisong. The choir also  performed of the national anthem piece at the President’s Day Prize Giving Ceremony of July 2008. The Maikano Serenaders came second in the 2009 BTU National Eisteddfod. Recently, the choir graced the 2009 Presidential Honours & Awards Ceremony hosted by His Excellency Lt. General Seretse Khama Ian Khama at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC).
