OLYMPIC SPORT AND ART CONTEST 2012
Rules and Regulations
THEME: SPORT AND THE OLYMPIC VALUES OF EXCELLENCE, FRIENDSHIP AND
RESPECT
The Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) in collaboration with Department of Art and Culture (DAC) are coordinating the 2012 Olympic Sport and Art Contest. This is an effort to foster an active synergy between the worlds of sport and art at national level and to heighten perception of the link between these two areas.
With the aim of implementing one of the fundamental principles of the Olympic Charter, which states, inter alia, that Olympism blends sport with culture and education, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and its Commission for Culture and Olympic Education is launching an Olympic Sport and Art Contest, as it did for the previous edition of the Games of the Olympiad, as part of its celebrations for the Games of the XXX Olympiad in London 2012.
- The exhibition is open to Batswana citizens only and there is no age limit to artists
- An artist must submit up to three entries in one of the following categories;
a). Painting
b). Drawing
c). Graphic Design
d). Sculpture
e). Photography
g). Printmaking
- Artworks must be the original works of the artist.
- Paintings, drawings, graphics, prints and photographs must be stretched or framed and ready for hanging. A single work, including frame, as a whole must NOT be larger than 1.5m x 1m.
- Sculptures, including base may NOT exceed a weight of 20kg. It must not be more than 1.5m x 5m x1m
- Entry forms must be completed with the following details;
- Artist`s full names and a short biography in a maximum of 400 words
- Title of the work
- Type of work, the supporting material and the technique
7. Artworks must be submitted at the Main Gallery, Botswana National Museum before 3rd February 2012.
- All artworks must be collected within 3 days after the end of the exhibition. Disposition of works not collected will be at the discretion of the Botswana National Olympic Committee and Department of Arts and Culture
- Prizes : National Phase International Phase
1st Prize - P3 000 1st Prize - US$30, 000 and a diploma
2nd Prize – P2 000 2nd Prize - US$20, 000 and a diploma
3rd Prize – P1 000 3rd Prize - US$10, 000 and a diploma
5 Runners up – diplomas
